New Construction
New Passive House Construction
For new construction, we will implement the following key components:
Exceptionally high level of thermal insulation.
Passive solar design
Well-insulated window frames with triple low-e glazing
Thermal-bridge-free construction
Airtight building envelope
Comfort ventilation with highly efficient heat recovery
The PH standard is simple and precise. To be certified as a PH, a new home or building must meet just three criteria:
It must use no more than 15 kilowatthours per square meter (kWh/m2) per year for heating or cooling. This is the equivalent of 1.39 kilowatt-hours per square foot (kWh/ft2) or 4.75 thousand British thermal units per square foot (kBtu/ft2), per year.
Its total primary or source energy consumption—that is, the energy generated at the power plant to meet all of the building’s energy needs—must not exceed 120 kWh/m2 (11.15 kWh/ft2 or 38 kBtu/ft2) per year.
It must be tested for airtightness and shown to be at a maximum of 0.6 air changes per hour at 50 pascals (ACH50).
